FDA VOLUNTARY STANDARDS PROGRAM

The Vineland Health Department was recommended for the FDA’s Voluntary Standard’s Program by the NJ State Health Department. When approached by the FDA in 2012, we accepted their challenge to become even better at protecting the public from foodborne illnesses.

In 2012, the Vineland Health Department was the first health department in the United States to meet all 9 standards of the FDA’s voluntary retail food program standards. As such, we will most likely be stricter than a health department not enrolled and meeting at least some of the standards. Our inspectors undergo rigorous, continuing training and testing on their knowledge and skills related to food safety as part of the FDA program standards.
